FRAME RECOMMENDATIONS!
Several folks I’ve ran across at markets always ask me where to get frames for the artwork they’re taking home. Frame shopping is an extra step for my collectors to take, and I hope by offering a few suggestions I can help make the process painless. It is that last step to customize the art that is going to live on your walls!
I think that less is more when it comes to a frame. I prefer clean, flat borders, no beveled edges, and neutral colors. Minimalist frames allow the art to be the focus.
LOCAL OPTION!
Harris & Co. Frame Shop
I recently met Michael Harris at a local art market. He does impeccable work, is very kind to artists, and most importantly, he has an ADORABLE dog. If you're local to Wichita, please be sure to use him for all your framing needs. It is so worth the investment, especially for larger scale work to really shine (step away from the cheap poster frames!). His shop is located in the Commerce Street Arts District.
If you aren't local to Wichita, here's a short list of a few other frames I am familiar with:
Room Essentials Floating Frames from Target:
These are great if you are looking for something that’s not quite the size you’re after, but you aren’t crazy about incorporating matting or custom framing. They give off an interesting presentation without the frame being overly decorative. They can create a fun interaction with colorful walls as the backdrop for the floating piece.

Room Essentials Gallery Frames from Target:
These are sleek, wood, basic frames that will get the job done. This size will work for 11x14 pieces excluding the matte.

Gallery Frames from Blick Art Materials:
Blick is an excellent company where I tend to get most of my art supplies If you wanna send a girl some free paints that’d be stellar. ;) These guys are almost always on sale or have a free shipping promo and I love the thicker 1 ¾ inch profile. They are lightweight, so they don't really feel like an expensive frame, but with the thicker profile and clean lines you'll have people fooled. I also recommend these for larger pieces, though they only come in black for the 20x24 size. They will come with sawtooth backs that you will be able to place either vertically/horizontally.

Quadro Clip Frames:
In my search for frames I always thought it’d be great to find a style that was just a clean sheet of glass to protect the front of the piece and no border whatsoever. Well these are it! They allow for the art to go clear to the very edge of the frame. Quadro tends to carry more unique size ranges and I’ve found they always pack them really well when they ship. Their team has been flexible for clients of mine that have requested custom frames for commissions. Their shop is available via Amazon or their website.
